D.O. Ribera del Duero

Ribera del duero mapa.png

D.O. Ribera del Duero, located on Spain’s northern plateau along the Duero river, is famous for powerful yet refined red wines based on Tempranillo (known locally as Tinto Fino). High altitude, extreme temperature contrasts and careful oak ageing result in wines with intense fruit, firm structure and great ageing potential.

Deep, high-intensity cherry red colour with subtle garnet hues at the rim, reflecting its evolution through aging. Bright and clean, with a dense, almost opaque core. Noticeable viscosity, forming slow, tinted tears that indicate concentration, structure, and good alcohol integration.

Intense and complex nose, with aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, complemented by notes of plum. Aging in oak barrels adds pronounced nuances of vanilla, toasted wood, sweet spice, and a hint of cocoa, with subtle balsamic undertones that enhance depth.

Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, with firm, well-structured tannins and balanced acidity. Concentrated dark fruit flavours are supported by oak-derived notes of spice, toast, and cocoa. The wine shows great depth and persistence, with a long, structured finish and a refined, slightly smoky character.
